Avengers: Secret Wars (2027)

Thu May 22 2025

In *Avengers: Infinity War*, Thanos wiped out half of all life in the universe with a single snap.

At the time, it was truly shocking—marking the largest death toll in the history of the MCU.

However, with the development of *Avengers: Secret Wars* now underway,

the number of deaths in the MCU could potentially far surpass those caused by Thanos' snap.

In *Endgame*, the Hulk mentioned that Thanos had killed "trillions."

While the number is staggering, all of those deaths occurred within a single universe—the 616 Universe.

Now, with the MCU entering the Multiverse Saga,
newly introduced villains and concepts could pose an even greater threat to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to reports, *Secret Wars* will feature an even larger-scale battle.

With elements like incursions, altered timelines, and villainous variants,
the carnage in *Secret Wars* could surpass even that of *Infinity War*, becoming far more brutal and devastating.

If *Secret Wars* adapts the major 2015 comic book event of the same name,
then the film could depict the destruction of one or more entire universes within the multiverse.
In the comics, the Ancient One and Doctor Strange create Battleworld—
a place where survivors live following the catastrophic collapse of multiple realities.

Eventually, the multiverse is rebuilt.
If such a large-scale incursion occurs in the MCU,
then not just one, but multiple universes could see the deaths of billions of lives.
The scale of devastation would far surpass the damage caused by Thanos.

*Secret Wars* may also reveal that the only way to defeat Kang the Conqueror is by creating a new Sacred Timeline—
similar to how the final Kang variant in the Multiversal War defeated his other versions.
This could lead the MCU back to a single, unified timeline.

Given that the Multiverse Saga is expected to conclude soon,
this setup might make narrative sense moving forward.
However, it would also mean that countless timelines would need to be erased—
and the lives within those timelines could vanish as a result.

Because of this, *Secret Wars* might become the most destructive Marvel film yet.

*Secret Wars* is scheduled to be released on May 7, 2027.
