**Fear Street: Prom Queen** is the fourth installment in Netflix’s horror film series *Fear Street*, adapted from R.L. Stine’s 1992 novel of the same name, *The Prom Queen*. The story is set in 1988 at Shadyside High during prom season, where the school's most popular girls are fiercely competing for the title of Prom Queen. However, when an unexpected "outsider" from a humble background is nominated, the other candidates begin to mysteriously disappear one by one. What begins as a glamorous night quickly descends into a blood-soaked massacre. The protagonists must uncover the truth before the killing spreads—otherwise, they’ll all become victims of this hellish celebration.

The film continues the *Fear Street* series’ signature horror elements, blending the style of classic 1980s slasher films with retro music and a nostalgic high school setting, while further exploring the town’s longstanding family curse.

As a new chapter separate from the original trilogy, this installment introduces an entirely new cast of characters and features a relatively standalone storyline. While there are connections to the overarching curse—such as references to the 1978 “Nightwing Massacre”—the plot remains largely self-contained. Additionally, R.L. Stine has revealed that Netflix is planning to develop more *Fear Street* spin-offs in the future.
