Satan’s Slaves 2: A Chilling Descent into Horror
“Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion” isn’t just another horror flick; it’s a record-breaking Indonesian cinematic experience that plunges viewers into a nightmare from the very first scene.
An Ominous Beginning
The film wastes no time in setting a terrifying tone. A young boy is paralyzed by fear when he sees his deceased younger brother. The chilling apparition sends him scrambling backward, desperate to escape the house. His frantic retreat leads him to his sisters, and together, they cautiously investigate. To their horror, they confirm the presence of their long-dead sibling. Meanwhile, down below, two other characters, 小丫 (Xiaoya) and 三狗子 (San Gouzi), discover the ground floor is rapidly flooding.
San Gouzi bravely leaps into the water, hoping to find an escape route. However, Xiaoya, proving to be a less-than-reliable companion, abandons him to his own devices. Stranded, San Gouzi is forced to retreat back to the stairs, hoping to catch up with Xiaoya.
Encounters with the Unseen
As San Gouzi ascends the stairs, a figure draped in white appears before him. He cautiously approaches, intent on unveiling the mysterious woman. But before he can, she vanishes, leaving him gripped by terror.
Meanwhile, the solitary Xiaoya encounters a “飘飘” (a floating ghost) at a stairwell corner. Her screams punctuate her desperate flight, which leads her to the apartment’s caretaker. Tentatively, she follows him, her fear driving her into a garbage chute. The walls of the chute suddenly turn blood red. Elsewhere, the children’s father, using a crutch, awakens and approaches his offspring. He declares that everything he has done was for their protection.
Unveiling the Truth
Before he can elaborate, spectral figures emerge from the shadows, scattering the family in a chaotic escape. 二丫 (Erya) faints from sheer terror. When she awakens, she finds herself surrounded by a cult, her deceased brother among them, directing the execution of their father.
Just as Erya believes all is lost, a reporter who documented the events of 20 years prior arrives with sacred objects, rescuing the family. The leader of the “飘飘”, a terrifying woman, is defeated. From the reporter, they learn the horrifying truth: Erya’s father, infertile, prayed to Satan for a child.
His prayers were answered, but he then tried to break his pact with the dark lord, leading to Satan’s relentless pursuit. To protect his children from becoming sacrifices, he began a spree of killings, the evidence of which lay in a box of severed fingers. But a deal with Satan is not so easily broken, and he became, irrevocably, one of Satan’s slaves, forever trapped in his grasp.
