Simultaneously, his girlfriend Soo-yeon (Gong Hyo-jin) leaves him. He tells his mother and friends that he’s going abroad for treatment, but instead, he checks into a rural sanatorium. There, he meets Eun-hee (Im Soo-jung), a woman battling a serious illness.

Happiness Sanatorium

Having lived in the sanatorium for eight years, Eun-hee faces constant health scares, yet her optimistic spirit deeply touches Young-soo. Their connection deepens, and they fall in love. Eventually, they leave the sanatorium to live together in a nearby farmhouse, promising to stay by each other’s side until the end.

Plot Details

With Eun-hee’s support, Young-soo’s health improves. However, he eventually succumbs to temptation and returns to his old life in Seoul, abandoning Eun-hee. Back in the city, Young-soo’s life spirals out of control, and his health deteriorates. He is hospitalized and learns about Eun-hee’s condition.

Tragically, Eun-hee passes away. Overwhelmed with grief, Young-soo returns to their “happiness” house, grappling with the consequences of his choices.
