My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (2010)

The story follows the young pony Twilight Sparkle, who is sent on a mission by her mentor, Princess Celestia. Together with her assistant Spike, she travels to Ponyville to learn about the magic of friendship. During her time there, she makes five close friends and discovers the true meaning of friendship. Alongside her friends, she works to protect Equestria.

"My Little Pony" generally refers to *My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic*, which is the fourth generation (Generation 4) of the entire series.

The name "小马宝莉" is the official Chinese translation specifically for this fourth generation of the series.

Earlier generations were previously known as "小马驹" or "我的小马驹," both meaning "My Little Pony."

Hasbro has produced various generations of toys and games specifically related to *My Little Pony* (known as "小马宝莉" in Chinese), which collectors refer to as Generation 1 through Generation 3.

*My Little Pony Tales*, which first aired in 1991, came before the current television series.

As new multimedia content was released, the design of the ponies was subsequently updated to the Generation 3 style.

When animator and writer Lauren Faust was hired by Lisa Licht at Hasbro Studios, Licht showed Faust one of the *My Little Pony* animated works, *My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade*.

Faust described it as “completely very busy."

Licht believed that Faust's style was a great fit for the series and asked her to come up with “some ideas for a new version of the franchise.”

Faust aimed to break away from the traditionally “girly” nature of the *My Little Pony* series, and, following Hasbro’s guidance on incorporating “educational and informational” content along with the toy line's market goals, she created deeper characters and bolder settings.

After completing Season 1, Faust stepped back from the project but remained on the team in an advisory production role.

Jayson Thiessen, the supervising director of the series, took over as executive producer starting from Season 2.

*My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic*, also known by other translated titles such as *My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic*, *Rainbow Pony: Friendship is Magic*, *The Magic of Pony Friendship*, or simply *My Little Pony*, is a cartoon series produced by Hasbro.

Aimed primarily at young girls and featuring ponies as the main characters, the show premiered on October 10, 2010, on the American TV channel The Hub.

The second season was released on September 11, 2011.

The series originated from a toy line launched by Hasbro in 1983.

Due to its popularity, it was later adapted into a television cartoon, even leading to feature films, and eventually developed into a wide range of related merchandise.
