The recent re-release of “Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie” in theaters is a testament to the enduring power of nostalgia. Originally hitting screens in 2012, this film, now over a decade old, continues to attract anime enthusiasts eager to relive their cherished memories.
The Universal Yearning for a Place to Belong
In the aftermath of the intense battle against the Akatsuki, Naruto grapples with feelings of loneliness and isolation. Observing his friends surrounded by their loving families, he feels acutely aware of the void in his own life.
As Naruto walks through the lively streets, a sense of solitude envelops him. In that vulnerable moment, he yearns for the opportunity to share his thoughts and feelings with his parents, to experience the simple, comforting warmth of family life that seems so readily available to others.
Sakura, on a parallel path, experiences a clash with her own parents. Frustrated and seeking escape, she pulls Nartuo along as she runs away from home, venting to him. She expresses her envy toward the children of lauded heroes because she believes that her ordinary parents fail to appreciate her which results in consistant judgement from them.
Dive through the Parallel Universe
Suddenly, the enigmatic Madara emerges and unleashes his ocular powers, transporting the pair into an alternate reality of his own making.
Following a disorienting transition, Naruto and Sakura find themselves within the Limited Tsukuyomi world concocted by Madara, a parallel universe where their companions exist, but where their personalities have been drastically altered.
In this manipulated reality, Sakura’s parents are those that have sacrificed themselves to protect the Hidden Leaf Village, the Fourth Hokage. Thus she is known as the child hero within the village, where she receives unwavering support.
As well, Naruto’s wish becomes a reality as well. He comes face to face with his parents, both alive and well, Minato and Kushina. But, he is not called Naruto in this world rather than that he is Menma.
At first, Naruto is still aware of what is going on realizing, that it is Madara’s illusion. Because of this, he continues to search for a way to go back to the real work, resisting the feelings from Minto and Kushina.
The Temptation of Illusion
But, just like anyone else without a stable and strong place to belong, how could Naruto, starved for love, resist the comfort of family.
Bit by bit, he begins to be fond of Minato and Kushina, allowing the warm embrace of belonging to wash through him.
He feels comfort and warmth due to this long awaited bond, experiencing it for the first time as unprecedented experience.
That eat thogether, they celebrate things together, and ultimately chat. Eventually, it gets hard to part away from time so beautiful .
As time goes on, the masked man shows himself showing Madara’s long awaiting plan being revealed, that no matter how kind Minato, Kushina, that they would simply not be his real parents.
Naruto realizes along the way that his parents’ sacrifices are what allowed the Leaf Village to become well established where the sacrificed themselves willingly!
Waking Up, Facing the True Ending
Naruto Uzumaki has the dream to because Hokage, he knows they need to awake and fight another day.
At the very end, he and Sakura must come back to reality. As they go back to the place they call home, it becomes a little disheartening. To much surprise, Iruka-sensei is waiting in the entrance holding a warm cake.
“Naruto, don’t be picky about food, eat up, and grow up quickly… Remember to make friends too. You don’t need a lot of them, just a few you can really trust is enough.”“Naruto, you’re going to go through a lot of pain and hardship in the future, but you have to stay true to yourself, have dreams, and believe you can make them happen.”“And… and… there’s so much more I wanted to teach you, and I wanted to be by your side forever, I love you…”
The Everlasting Appeal of the Naruto Story
Overall, giving a film that speaks a tale that is both heartwarming and has moments of grief after waking reality.
If that is what a ninja is as it endures with no give, that in and of itself tells a tale of not only the Naruto fans, bur Naruto itself.
