Sausage Party: An Uncensored Animated Comedy for Adults
Grocery store products live happily in a large American supermarket. They believe that shoppers are gods who take them to a better world of freedom and justice. Therefore, they worry when no one takes them from the shelves, and they rejoice when people pay attention to them. Suddenly, a hot dog sausage named Frank learns what really happens to food after it is purchased. He doesn’t want to believe that the gods devour the products, but those who reveal the truth to him promise that Frank will find evidence in the household goods section. So the sausage, along with his beloved bun Brenda, sets off on a journey.

The project was offered to many studios, but only Sony agreed to invest in an adult animated comedy.
Comedian and screenwriter Seth Rogen makes no secret of his love for soft drugs. It’s hard to say how this affects his daily life, but it undoubtedly helps his creativity. Otherwise, it’s hard to explain how projects like the stoner comedy “Pineapple Express,” the insane “The Interview,” and the adult animated comedy “Sausage Party,” which the comedian conceived and produced, are born in his head. However, Rogen claims that “Sausage Party” was born out of a perfectly rational attempt to parody Pixar’s animated films about toys, bugs, and fish (“What makes food worse than toys?”). But if you watch “Sausage Party,” you’ll agree that such projects are not born on a sober head.

Actor Edward Norton not only voiced the role of the Jewish bagel but also acted as the “shadow producer” of the film. He negotiated the participation of those stars whom Seth Rogen did not know personally.
A Satirical Take on Beliefs
At its core, “Sausage Party” is a harsh, godless satire that ridicules organized religion and belief in the afterlife. The film goes so far that it even reminds us of the connection between Christianity and the Holocaust (yes, this “cartoon” has transparent hints of Nazism). However, Islam and Judaism also get their share. If your faith lulls people to sleep with beautiful fairy tales that hide the harsh reality, then expect a call – “Sausage Party” will give you a piece of its mind!

Raunchy Humor and Dark Themes
However, this is not a serious call to burn churches and demolish synagogues. “Sausage Party” is a film that is uncompromising, yet ironic and infantile. It resembles “South Park” in how often it jokes about nationalities and sex. And, like “South Park,” it goes as far as no Hollywood live-action film could go. For example, it features a lengthy orgy in which all the key characters, starting with Frank and Brenda, intertwine in a sexual squiggle that would be the envy of extreme porn stars. True, since it’s animated food on the screen, it looks hilarious rather than seductive. But nevertheless, if you don’t like such jokes, “Sausage Party” will make you run out of the theater. And, of course, do not bring children to the session under any circumstances. The “18+” rating is 200% justified.

More Than Just Sex Jokes
In addition to jokes about sex, Nazis, Jews, Arabs, Mexicans, Indians, and the high-minded relationship between sausages, buns, and mustard, “Sausage Party” has jokes about various drugs and several surprisingly violent scenes. The film is not content with the “brutal” extermination of food in the stomachs of shoppers – from a certain point, the food fights back. And not just food. Enemas are sold in American supermarkets, and a character with a long nose turns out to be one of the villains of “Sausage Party.” He spends almost the entire film looking for someone to stick himself into… And, of course, he finds someone.
A Film for Fans of Uncensored Comedy
In general, if you believe that cartoons should be drawn for children and parents and that bad taste has no place on the screen, then Seth Rogen and his colleagues did not work for you. But if “South Park” is one of your favorite series and if you regret that the film “Team America: World Police” did not have a sequel, then “Sausage Party” is the movie of your dreams. Bad taste is at every turn, but it is a dynamic and very funny comedy with many plot surprises. It also has a successful translation, which coped with almost all the “untranslatable things,” except for the completely untranslatable ones (like the fact that “cracker” in American slang is a white person).
