A Hilarious and Silly Comedy Worth Watching for Nicole Kidman’s Hula Dance

“Just Go With It” is a lighthearted romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, with a memorable appearance by Nicole Kidman.

Danny, a plastic surgeon, uses a wedding ring to attract women, fabricating stories about a miserable marriage he never had. When he meets the girl of his dreams, he finds himself in a predicament. She insists on meeting his “soon-to-be ex-wife” to confirm Danny’s divorce. Unable to reveal the truth, he asks his loyal assistant, Katherine, to pose as his spouse.

This new film by Dennis Dugan, a director known for his collaborations with Adam Sandler, falls into the category of comedies that make you laugh for the entire hour and a half, but leave you struggling to recall a single joke afterward. This is largely because Dugan’s humor relies heavily on exaggerated facial expressions and physical comedy. Moreover, much of what you see is something you’d rather forget.

For instance, the filmmakers indulge in the topic of plastic surgery, presenting a “gallery” of Botox and silicone victims so caricatured that you can’t help but pity the makeup artists who clearly spent hours on set. The fake spouses, played by Sandler and Aniston, are equally adept at putting each other down. Their jokes about alcoholism, antidepressants, and erectile dysfunction have become almost folkloric, encapsulating the collective experience of countless other family comedies.

In general, the film can be seen as a continuation of Sandler and Dugan’s previous work, “Grown Ups” (2010), which also celebrated bad taste and group vacations. However, this time, the romantic angle of the story prompted the producers to send the entire “extended family” to Hawaii instead of a remote wilderness.

The Supporting Cast and Nicole Kidman’s Standout Performance

In addition to the main characters, the expedition includes Danny’s cousin, who pretends to be an online sheep salesman, children practicing their British accents, and, of course, the girl of Danny’s dreams, who has perfect abs. However, it’s clear from the start that “she won’t be around for long.” Furthermore, Dugan manages to squeeze in a cameo by Sandler’s actual classmate, played by none other than Nicole Kidman. She portrays Aniston’s nemesis, sports an overbite, and is arguably the best thing about the film. Kidman even performs a hula dance, adding to the film’s comedic charm.
