A European Circus Voyage Filled with Song and Dance
The penguins, having left the quartet of friends from the New York Zoo (Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippopotamus) in Africa, embarked on a two-week trip to Monte Carlo. However, those two weeks stretched out, and the animals attempted to return to New York on their own, but missed their mark slightly and carved out a “window to Europe.” After being hunted by animal control inspector Captain Chantel Dubois, they accidentally jump onto a circus train, and their European voyage begins!
DreamWorks Animation, a studio specializing in computer animation, has remained true to itself this time, even surpassing the previous installments of “Madagascar” in some ways. Viewers are in for a truly spectacular show, resembling a superb attraction, thanks to the performances of the traveling circus troupe, where the four main characters have mingled. It is also important that the film will be shown in 3D, adding extra spectacle to the cartoon.
The Road Trip Continues
On one hand, the film repeats the familiar road-movie scheme, where the New York animals move from one place to another in an attempt to return home. This time, the heroes will have to change many locations – they will visit Rome, the Swiss Alps, London, and Monte Carlo.
New Characters and Challenges
On the other hand, the franchise is developing, avoiding the danger of replicating already tested techniques, and the proof of this is the appearance of new characters in the cartoon (including a Russian tiger named Vitaly, a jaguar Gia, an Italian sea lion Stefano, and others), who move the plot in a new direction. The introduction of a strong antagonist, striving at any cost to catch the newly minted members of the traveling circus, also increases the tension.
But everything ends, as it should, happily – the long road of the heroes home has come to an end, logically ending where it all began. So, apparently, “Madagascar 3” is the last part of the franchise. Unless, of course, the restless friends want to rush to distant lands for a new portion of adventures.
