Recently, the 23rd Yunnan Local Film Screening and Recommendation Event was held in Kunming, featuring the film “Wrath Pursuit.” Over a hundred attendees, including film experts and scholars from Yunnan Province, members of the Provincial Filmmakers Association, and movie enthusiasts, participated in the event.
Synopsis of “Wrath Pursuit”
“Wrath Pursuit,” produced by Yunnan Dayi Tiancheng Film Co., Ltd., is directed by Zhou Jing, with Liu Jie and Wang Xuhan as the chief producers and Wang Hongbin as the artistic director. The film unfolds in a seemingly peaceful old district, where a dark force engaged in human trafficking lurks beneath the surface. Lin Yuan, a special forces operative, is haunted by a failed mission where his entire team perished after he was distracted by a familiar ringtone he had set specifically for his daughter.
Tormented by this event, Lin Yuan retreats to A City, leading a secluded life as a watch repairman. He develops a bond with a mother and daughter who live above his shop. The mother struggles with gambling addiction, while the daughter is a bright and cheerful girl who enjoys visiting Lin Yuan’s shop. When the little girl is kidnapped by the hidden dark forces, Lin Yuan is drawn into a police investigation. Facing arrest and the pressure from the criminal organization, he embarks on a perilous journey to rescue the girl and other trafficked children.
Themes and Values
The film revolves around the rescue operation, portraying the protagonist’s growth, his choices under pressure, and a redefinition of good and evil through the search for the abducted child and the confrontation with the dark forces. It emphasizes that money is not the measure of justice. The narrative intertwines “emotion” and “action” as its main threads, focusing on the social issue of “child abduction” and highlighting positive values.
Post-Screening Discussion
The screening event was hosted by Zhao Xiaochun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Yunnan Provincial Filmmakers Association. After the screening, the creative team met with the audience, engaging in interactive discussions with film experts and viewers. The film’s production quality was widely praised, with attendees noting its thrilling action sequences, compelling emotional depth, and its poignant reminder of the social issue of “child abduction.”

Director Zhou Jing shared that the entire creative team dedicated significant effort during the film’s production. The lead role of Lin Yuan is played by Wang Yutian, who won the Best Newcomer Award at the 34th Hundred Flowers Awards for his role as Zhang Tiande in “Operation Red Sea.” Zheng Yingxian, who plays Xiaoyue, has appeared in popular TV series such as “Lost in Russia” and “Dear Child.” Veteran actor Xu Shaoqiang portrays the main villain, Xiong Zhiwei, adding to the film’s quality.
