Handlung
El Chanfle, a poignant and witty Spanish-language film, delves into the life of a lovable yet eccentric props boy and water boy for the esteemed Mexican soccer club, América. Jorge 'El Chanfle' (played by the inimitable Jorge Reynoso), a man consumed by his dream of becoming a professional soccer player, has resigned himself to a life in the shadows. He finds solace in maintaining a spotless and well-organized area around the stadium, much to the chagrin of his demanding coach. Coach Juan Carlos's stern demeanor and expectation of absolute obedience from his players creates a tense atmosphere, one that El Chanfle refuses to conform to. His unwavering dedication to honesty and cleanliness often gets him into trouble, but his genuine nature is never more evident than when he is tasked with taking a bribe during a crucial game. Despite the potential financial rewards, El Chanfle's conscience gets the better of him, and he refuses to compromise his values. The coach's reaction to this act of defiance is swift and merciless. El Chanfle's job is terminated, much to the surprise and disappointment of his team doctor and close friend, Dr. García (played by the incomparable Jesús Ochoa). The doctor, a kind soul with a penchant for solving problems, takes it upon himself to lobby on El Chanfle's behalf, in a bid to help him get his job back. As El Chanfle navigates the challenges of his precarious livelihood, his personal life begins to take center stage. His wife, Tere (played by the beautiful and talented María Sorte), announces that she is pregnant with their first child, casting a ray of hope and excitement over the couple's future. The prospect of a new life and the promise of a stable home send the pair into a state of euphoria. However, El Chanfle's fortunes take a turn for the worse when he tries to sell a gun in an effort to secure a better financial future for his family. Unbeknownst to El Chanfle, his wife has misplaced the gun, which has now been passed on to an unsuspecting elderly man named Chato. Chato, a gruff and cantankerous individual with a sharp tongue and a penchant for settling scores, becomes enraged upon discovering the presence of the firearm. Determined to right the wrong, Chato sets out on a mission to exact revenge on El Chanfle, convinced that the hapless props boy is the owner of the deadly instrument. The stage is set for a series of hilarious and chaotic events as El Chanfle finds himself trapped in a web of deceit, misunderstanding, and misadventure. As the story unfolds, El Chanfle's well-meaning yet hapless nature is put to the test once more. His relentless pursuit of honesty and cleanliness, despite the mounting challenges he faces, serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder that integrity is always worth fighting for. The film's lighthearted and satirical tone, coupled with a talented cast and a richly nuanced storyline, make for a compelling watch that will leave audiences cheering for El Chanfle's perseverance in the face of adversity.
