Takumi Fujiwara's life is about to change in ways he never thought possible. It has been six months since he defeated Kyoichi Sekiguchi on the Akina Downhill Course, solidifying his position as the top street-racer in the region. With high school graduation approaching, Takumi must start planning his future. However, his mind is elsewhere, preoccupied with the recent events and the challenges posed by the prestigious Kengai Racing Team. At a dinner meeting at the Fujiwara residence, Ryosuke Takahashi, leader of Kengai, offers Takumi a spot on his team. The team, assembled with the goal of racing on Japan's mountain passes, seeks to recruit the best drivers in the region. Ryosuke presents Takumi with an opportunity to experience the thrill of racing the country's famous mountain passes. Intrigued, Takumi accepts the challenge but soon realises that before he can do so, he has several personal matters to settle. Firstly, Takumi is still seething with resentment and anger towards the Emperor team, whose Lancer Evo drivers, led by Kaito Sano, are considered to be the best racing team in the area. Takumi had humiliated their drivers in their previous encounters, but with Ryosuke's offer, he sees an opportunity to settle the score with the Emperor team once and for all. He knows it won't be easy; their team has improved dramatically and is eager to exact their revenge on the Akina Hill Champion. Meanwhile, news surfaces that a new challenger, the son of Takumi's father's greatest rival, Keisuke Takaiwa, has arrived on the scene, eager to surpass his father's legacy by defeating Takumi on the Downhill Course. The very thought sends a wave of anxiety through Takumi's mind. He has yet to face Keisuke's driving skills and fears that his current status as the region's top downhill driver might be short-lived. The stakes are further complicated by Takumi's complicated relationship with Natsuki Mogi. Their romance is on shaky ground, and Takumi is grappling with the pain of Natsuki's infidelity. Her actions have not only hurt him but have also eroded his trust in her. Despite the turmoil in their relationship, Natsuki insists on remaining by Takumi's side. Unbeknownst to her, Takumi intends to settle the score and prove that he is the better driver on the mountain passes. His mind is made up; the rivalry between the Emperor team will be just a stepping stone to his ultimate goal. As Takumi navigates the challenges and obstacles, he knows that he must be more determined than ever. Ryosuke's offer has given him a rare chance to prove himself not just as a street driver but as a high-calibre, well-rounded driver worthy of Kengai's elite status. The opportunity will not only allow him to gain experience on Japan's famous mountain passes but also validate his position as the region's top driver. With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Takumi takes his leave, leaving a visibly frustrated Natsuki behind. His decision to participate in the Kengai Racing Team's tour is set to alter the course of his life, forever.
