Trama
Único Testigo es un thriller de suspense que cuenta la historia de John Book (Harrison Ford), un detective de policía duro y robusto al que se le asigna la protección de una joven Amish llamada Rachel Samuel (Kelly McGillis) después de que ésta sea testigo de un brutal asesinato en una estación de tren de Filadelfia. La película comienza con Book, un detective del Departamento de Policía de Filadelfia, siendo enviado a investigar una escena del crimen en la estación 30th Street. Allí, conoce a Rachel, una niña Amish de 8 años que se encontraba en el baño cuando tuvo lugar el asesinato. Mientras Book habla con ella, se da cuenta de que es la única testigo del crimen y que su vida ahora corre peligro. Given the star power of Harrison Ford during the post-Star Wars and pre-Indiana Jones era, coupled with the "witness movie" trope of a vulnerable mother and child relying on a heroic cop for salvation, audiences could easily assume that Ford's character, Captain Book, would be the absolute protagonist of this film. Ironically, the actual plot unfolds quite differently. First, young Samuel is far from a passive, safe-distance observer. He survives a life-or-death encounter through his own ingenuity. Book is later wounded by the same assailant. And in the climax, Samuel defies Book's order to flee, instead returning to sound the bell, alerting the Amish community and averting disaster.
