A friend recommended “Madhouse,” and it has easily become one of the best web series I’ve ever watched. From the very beginning, I was captivated by the male lead’s fluent English and charming demeanor. Whether it’s the endearingly goofy yet alluring Nan Nan (the male lead) or the gentle and considerate Fan Fan (the female lead), the characters are incredibly well-developed. And let’s not forget the mind-blowing plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat.
Captivating Romance and Intriguing Plot
The initial interactions between the male and female leads are heartwarming and delightful. The unexpected “I’ll repay you with my life” line caught me completely off guard! Of course, the plot is another major highlight of this series.
Themes like spontaneous human combustion, barriers, specimens, Hua Shen’s Oedipus complex, and the fantastical, mysterious forest all contribute to the series’ unique and refreshing appeal. I can’t get enough of it! The touching romance between the leads, especially the passionate kiss in the lab, is incredibly beautiful. And even the charming Nan Nan has his moments of silliness, like when he’s poisoned and foaming at the mouth.
