Alors que le soleil se couche sur la ville mexicaine poussiéreuse, la réputation du Padre Francisco en tant qu'homme saint se répand comme une traînée de poudre parmi les fidèles. Son dévouement inébranlable à son troupeau et sa foi inébranlable dans le divin lui ont valu la vénération de ses paroissiens. Cependant, sous la surface de cette existence apparemment pieuse se cache un secret profondément ancré qui le tourmente chaque jour qui passe. Les germes de la chute de Francisco ont été semés lors d'un exorcisme bâclé, où il a été forcé d'affronter de front les forces obscures. Bien qu'il soit sorti victorieux en apparence, l'expérience a laissé une marque indélébile sur son psychisme. L'énergie malveillante qu'il avait libérée persistait encore en lui, s'envenimant comme une plaie ouverte qui refusait de guérir. Alors que le poids de ce secret devenait de plus en plus insupportable, Francisco se retrouvait de plus en plus replié sur lui-même et isolé des personnes mêmes qui le vénéraient comme un saint. Son esprit autrefois vif, maintenant obscurci par les chuchotements constants de la tentation démoniaque, il luttait pour garder son sang-froid face au désespoir croissant. C'est alors qu'une opportunité inattendue se présente à Francisco pour affronter ses démons et trouver la rédemption. L'apparition d'une mystérieuse jeune femme, Maria, qui possède une connexion surnaturelle avec les forces des ténèbres, lui offre une chance de vaincre enfin le mal qui le hante depuis si longtemps.

April 17, 2022 "The Exorcism of God," the title sounds intriguing, but the film itself is rather disappointing. It merely reverses the active and passive roles within an old-fashioned and outdated formula, and the ending is nothing more than cliché. In an era where religious exorcism has lost its appeal, and even the "bad priest" trope is passé, to still be covertly bashing religion under the guise of proselytization seems awfully slow on the uptake. It's like they're laughing at a joke from over a decade ago just now, and when they try to tell a similar one, it's just not funny.
