Trama
Nella devastata terra desolata, Max Rockatansky, alias Mad Max, continua la sua esistenza nomade come survivalista, raccogliendo provviste ed evitando il pericoloso paesaggio post-apocalittico. Il suo viaggio lo porta alla tentacolare metropoli di Bartertown, un'oasi tecnologica costruita sulle rovine di un'antica città. La città è governata dalla tirannica Zia Entity, che ha sfruttato astuzia e carisma per mantenere il controllo sulla comunità. Quando Max si imbatte in Bartertown, si ritrova coinvolto nelle lotte di potere tra Entity e il brutale capo dei Scavenger, Lord Humungus. A causa del suo coinvolgimento involontario, Max è costretto a partecipare a una serie di sfide, tra cui una cruenta battaglia contro la formidabile banda di Toecutter. While "Mad Max 2" was groundbreaking and raw, "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" takes the lead in thematic depth and dark humor. The image of children standing atop a crashed plane in the desolate desert, the methane, the saxophone, the Noh masks, the post-apocalyptic mythology, Thunderdome itself... it's all unforgettable.

The weakest entry in the Mad Max series, <Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome> still delivers on iconic settings, vehicles, and character designs. Its biggest shortcoming is the lack of explosive action; it's even toned down to a PG-13 rating. It's hard to believe that George Miller later transitioned to films like <Babe: Pig in the City> and <Happy Feet>. Was this his own creative choice, or was it influenced by American studios and tastes?

After the dullness of the first and the minor surprise of the second, the third installment relapses into "tedium" once more. Calling it science fiction feels inaccurate; it's more like "retro," with the protagonists seeming to have regressed to a "primitive" era. Were it not for the sporadic appearances of modern "technology," it would be hard to believe this is set in the future. Action sequences are scarce, and while the "Thunderdome" concept is novel, it lacks excitement... The plot progression further tests my patience; were it not for sheer perseverance, I might not have finished watching it.
