あらすじ

The rich layers of imagery left the deepest impression. The assassination plot in the tavern, the fire extinguisher chaos at the banquet, dying in the assassin's arms with fireworks celebrating Poland's liberation in the background. Eccentric minor characters, wearing sunglasses because they used to spend so much time in the sewers, the upside-down Jesus in the sewers, the white horse behind him during internal struggles, the blood seeping onto the fluttering white sheets, and the struggle to die in the endless garbage dump circled by crows. In this era, there are no rights or wrongs; beneath the ashes, there are diamonds.
Malakai
Wajda's first transitional work, shifting from Italian neorealism towards American film noir and gangster films, aiming to "express strong emotions." The screenplay focuses on the 24-hour power struggle between various political forces. The problem lies in the concept taking precedence and overemphasizing the conceptual themes, causing the excellent thriller atmosphere of the first half to fall apart in the second half. The camera is positioned low, and the composition of the shots is quite detailed. Inverted crucifixes, a white horse, and V-E Day fireworks all add to the film's striking imagery.
