あらすじ

Best of the year. Cried multiple times. The protagonist's first performance of "La Foule" and the ending with the dogs under the therapist's window... If I believe in fate, why doesn't fate believe in me? If answers can't be found in life, at least there's art and companionship. Dogs good, humans bad. Someone actually gave this one star; I can only say I respect your opinion, but as for being a cold-blooded, pretentious, and tasteless individual, 🙄.

Luc Besson's post-screening Q&A was incredibly touching. He said that whether in China or France, anywhere in the world, everyone shares a common thread: pain. And that's what this film aims to express – that universal pain.

The severed finger is a metaphor for castration. Exiled by the patriarchal order, he is neither man nor woman, not even fully human, but rather like a member of a dog pack. Lacking a complete self, he only finds temporary fulfillment in his weekly cross-dressing performances, glimpses of a mirrored wholeness. The gunshot ends his captivity, and like Jesus resurrected in a wheelchair, he becomes an inverted God. Classical Christian doctrine is anthropocentric and male-centric, with animals and nature at humanity's disposal. Therefore, the father and brother believe that Douge's love for dogs as kindred spirits, rather than his family, is strange and ungodly. But Dogman, broken as he is, is determined to prove that a disabled man, a cross-dresser...
