あらすじ

Fish Hooky, a classic American comedy film, was released in 1933. Directed by Charles Lamont, the movie stars Bobby Breen, Mary Brian, and Charley Grapewin. The story begins at a time when truant officers were more common than they are today. The setting is an amusement park in the city, filled with the hustle and bustle of families looking to enjoy some entertainment and relaxation. Our main characters are a group of kids who are supposed to be attending school but have decided to take the day off and have some fun. The leader of this group, played by Bobby Breen, is an enterprising young boy with a penchant for getting into trouble. Alongside his mischievous friends, they concoct a plan to evade their school's authority and sneak into the amusement park for the day. As the kids enter the amusement park, they immediately get caught up in all the thrilling rides and attractions on offer. The highlight of their day is a spinning teacup ride, known as the "Tea Cup" attraction, but the excitement of the day is threatened when the truant officer catches wind of their whereabouts. The truant officer, played by Charley Grapewin, quickly spots the kids, recognizing some of them from their school. Knowing that he must do his job and return the children back to school, he gives chase to the mischievous group of kids. A thrilling cat and mouse chase ensues, as the kids do everything in their power to avoid being recaptured by the truant officer. They run past the merry-go-round, play dodges the vendor's games, and jump over hurdles at the shooting gallery. Every obstacle they overcome seems to push them further into the heart of the amusement park. As their day of 'fish hooky,' as they call it, drags on, the kids start to grow tired but are too afraid to give up, worried that they'll get caught, face punishment, and potentially miss their own fun. But just as all hope seems to fade, they come up with another plan to outsmart the truant officer and enjoy their day at the amusement park. Throughout the film, we see various other side plottles and the characters of the amusement park. The kids get caught up with the various people in the amusement park, such as the vendor and the shooting gallery attendant, whose eccentric and wacky antics add a touch of humor to the film. In the climactic final chase, the kids face one last obstacle before they can escape the clutches of the truant officer. They are able to overcome all their other adventures, but this obstacle will need all their wits and resourcefulness to achieve their goal. Ultimately, the truant officer catches up with the kids and they are required to return back to school. But with their sense of adventure and mischief still going strong, they have learned a valuable lesson from their day at the amusement park. They come to terms with the fact that their actions had consequences, such as being late to school. And although their day at the amusement park did not quite turn out as planned, they were able to make the most out of their situation and still enjoyed a memorable day out.
