Xie Miao's action scenes definitely earn him a place among young actors today. It's a shame the script is so cliché: the invincible protagonist, acts of chivalry, rescuing the damsel, and a comeback from the brink are all rather uninspired. The forced sentimentality at the end is also unnecessary. However, the discussion on the "necessity of upholding justice" is commendable, and it attempts a simple dissection of human nature.

The scenes clearly indicate it was filmed in a film studio, lacking Hong Kong flavor but heavy on Shanghai vibes – I thought Ip Man had gone to Shanghai…
