チャンケ族の伝説
あらすじ
風光明媚なサンタ・セシリアの町で、かつて強力で伝説的な英雄だったレオ・サン・ファンは、家族と共にパン職人として質素な生活を送っていた。5年前に並外れた能力を放棄したレオは、冒険的な過去を忘れ、自分自身と愛する人々のために安定した未来を築くことに専念しようとしていた。 しかし、彼らの生活の静けさは、チャンケ族として知られるいたずら好きな精霊たちが町で騒ぎを起こし始めた時に打ち破られる。これらの遊び心がありながらも厄介な存在は、魔法の力を持っていると言われており、それを使って町の人々にいたずらをする。チャンケ族の悪ふざけがエスカレートするにつれて、レオの家族のパン屋がお気に入りのターゲットになる。 当初は関わることをためらっていたレオだが、最終的には友人や仲間の説得を受け、英雄としてのルーツに戻り、チャンケ族のいたずらに終止符を打つことにする。相棒であるおしゃべりな猫のマックスを連れて、レオは厄介な精霊を捕まえ、サンタ・セシリアに平和を取り戻すためのスリリングな冒険に出る。 レオがこの新たな課題に取り組む中で、彼は過去と向き合い、姿を消して以来彼を探していた友人たちとのつながりを再び強めざるを得なくなる。また、チャンケ族は単なる厄介者ではなく、実は聖なる森の守り手であり、その森が彼らの力の鍵を握っていることを発見する。 レオがチャンケ族とその森とのつながりを取り巻く謎を深く掘り下げるにつれて、彼は知恵、勇気、決意を駆使して危機を脱しなければならない。友人たちの助けといくつかの驚くべき味方を得て、レオ・サン・ファンはチャンケ族を捕獲し、町にバランスを取り戻し、神秘的な森に隠された秘密を明らかにするための壮大な探求に乗り出す。

Four and a half stars. Behind the horror lies humanity, behind humanity lies politics, and behind politics lies the social structure. This layering far exceeds the framework of a confined space. The youth dies because of his lover's mistake, the mother dies because of her daughter, and the sister dies because of her brother. Coupled with the twist at the end, such irony is by no means the inclination of a typical B-movie. The reason why most zombie movies that followed went astray is because they became increasingly obsessed with the zombies' lifelike image and sensory stimulation, while abandoning the allegory of portraying characters and plots themselves.

While the editing becomes somewhat disjointed later on, the opening wordless chase sequence offers a glimpse into the boundless charm of black and white silent films. The ending, for its time, was quite impressively handled.

A true ancestor of zombie movies. Black and white film, classic and unsettling soundtrack, and a test of humanity. Ironically, the black character's ending is the most tragic. From then on, a supernatural force, invulnerable except for brain death, sometimes slow-moving but later exceptionally swift, driven by a primal instinct to eat flesh and with incredible bite force, decaying and malodorous, and capable of transmitting infection with a single bite, has become an enduring staple on Western big screens. 8.0
