あらすじ

Seriously held back tears! That destined collision, that tragic challenge of the limits, that mutual appreciation washed clean by love and hate – where would the great legends come from without great rivals? The soundtrack is so fiery, it almost tore my heart apart!

Forget the FX, the sizzling (oops, I meant *character*) clashes between the two leads alone cement this as one of the best racing movies of the last two decades. Come to think of it, have there even *been* any racing movies in the last twenty years? If he could, I wish Ron Howard would turn every F1 season finale into a feature film.

I've always considered Ron Howard to be a very old-school director, like he's still living in Hollywood's Golden Age. He makes meticulously crafted genre films, and while his narrative techniques and story angles are often conventional, the fundamentally American mainstream values at the core of his stories invariably resonate. This film exemplifies that. The initial, rather rote narrative is formulaic, but gradually things shift, and the film becomes so impeccably constructed that it could be used as screenwriting tutorial material. ★★★★
