Serenity
A brainless but exhilarating action flick! Tony Jaa's action scenes are so enjoyable to watch. It feels like a mix of "The Raid," "Ong-Bak," "Tom Yum Goong," and "John Wick." It's a shame it's produced by a Chinese company; otherwise, the level of violence could be pushed further, and it could have been made into a truly satisfying revenge action film.

Some scenes are a bit over the top, especially the motorcycle escape. The humor draws inspiration from Jackie Chan's kung fu comedies. The biggest highlight is the recreation of Tony Jaa's signature Muay Thai moves. One aspect particularly deserves praise: the well-utilized martial arts stars. Shi Yanneng makes for a formidable main villain, and the climax is well-executed. Unlike some action films that tend to have stars team up against the villain, with their fighting feeling perfunctory – why are villains always at the bottom of the pecking order in action movies?
