6.4 I thought this would be a low-rent version of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," but it turned out to be just revisiting the origin of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from a Gen Z perspective. Repeatedly emphasizing the objective realities of adolescence as a substitute for intense battle scenes, we're presented with the ultimate patchwork of street subcultures – a blend of Chinese Kung Fu, Japanese anime, and American hip-hop. Incoherently using shedding their shut-in status as a means to extract some sort of core message.

Totally got hoodwinked by the poster – walked into the theater just to kill some time and ended up cackling like crazy until the credits rolled. The animation style is so smooth and satisfying, and the storyline is hilariously goofy – perfectly in sync with my current mental state. Seriously, thanks. That hour and a half flew by, left me wanting more. Skip the RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema is where it's at for the true immersive experience. Perfect for an ice-cold soda.

From the inspired voice casting choices to the film's effortless blending of Black street culture and Shaw Brothers kung fu films, the movie's allegories about minority groups integrating into mainstream society are glaringly obvious. While this "can't we all just get along" style of racial narrative might seem cliché in the current climate, it proves to be incredibly effective, and at least preferable to stirring up trouble for no reason. The impact of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" on Hollywood animation was hinted at in DreamWorks' "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," but "Mutant Mayhem" fully embraces that aesthetic, even extending to the trailer for Disney's new film, "Wish," which was attached to the movie...
