May the Devil Take You Too

Plot
In "May the Devil Take You Too," the sequel to the 2018 Indonesian horror film "May the Devil Take You," two years have passed since young Diana Saim (played by Hannah Al Rashid) managed to escape the clutches of the demonic possessions that terrorized her in her hometown of Bandung. The traumatic events of that fateful night have left Diana with severe emotional scars, and the psychological trauma still haunts her to this day. Unbeknownst to Diana, the demons that pursued her have been patiently waiting for her return to their territory. They possess the innocent residents of Bandung, manipulating their minds and souls with malicious intent. Diana's visions, a testament to the trauma she endured, start to take center stage once again. Her visions of ghostly apparitions and the eerie presence of malevolent forces have become more frequent, warning her of an impending catastrophe that threatens to reclaim her. Diana's life becomes increasingly complicated when a new friend, Yudhi (played by Ray Sahetapy), and his girlfriend, Maya (played by Ari Irham), enter her life. Yudhi and Maya are initially unaware of the danger that lingers in the shadows. Diana struggles to keep her dark past hidden from them, fearing that her demons will soon consume their loved ones as well. As a new evil force begins to take hold, an ancient cult emerges from the depths of Bandung's history. Their twisted rituals are a testament to their malevolent allegiance, drawing inspiration from the dark forces that once tormented Diana. The cult sees Diana as a threat to their plans, believing she might be the key to unleashing a devastating evil that will soon spread across the entire city. In desperation, Diana turns to an unlikely ally: her ex, Dimas (played by Dimas Anggara), who has a talent for exorcisms. Together, they embark on a perilous journey to uncover the truth behind the cult's sinister plans and the malevolent forces that continue to haunt Diana. They delve into the dark history of Bandung, where they discover a long-forgotten tragedy that led to a series of gruesome massacres. As the stakes grow higher, Diana and her friends find themselves trapped between the evil forces that have possessed the town and the demonic rituals that are taking place. With each step, they are driven deeper into a labyrinth of terror, confronting manifestations of Diana's own guilt, regret, and trauma. Throughout the film, director Timo Tjahjanto masterfully weaves together elements of Indonesian folklore and horror traditions to create a hauntingly atmospheric and terrifying portrayal of demonic possession. The tension builds towards a climactic showdown between the forces of good and evil, testing Diana's resolve to protect her loved ones and confront the demons that still haunt her. In "May the Devil Take You Too," the supernatural horror elements are expertly blended with the narrative's psychological thrills and emotional stakes, creating a cinematic experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. By exploring themes of trauma, guilt, and redemption, the film offers a thought-provoking and deeply unsettling portrayal of the human condition under the onslaught of demonic forces.
