The Parenting

Plot
The Parenting, a tense and thrilling horror-comedy film, revolves around the lives of Josh and Rohan, two loving boyfriends who have been together for a while. They decide to plan a weekend getaway to meet each other's families, hoping to bridge the gap between them. Josh is a planner and has chosen a cozy cabin in the woods to get this family bonding off on the right note. Upon arrival, they start settling in, unaware of the daunting task that lies ahead. They introduce themselves to their respective mothers, Eva and Sarika, who seem agreeable and try to make the best of their initial meeting. However, things quickly take a dark turn when strange events start to unfold in the cabin. Doors slam shut, objects move on their own, and eerie noises echo through the house. What they initially dismiss as a usual creaky cabin infested with critters gradually escalates into something much more sinister. The cabin is eventually exposed to be the dwelling of a malevolent spirit, a 400-year-old poltergeist with dark intentions. The spirit, seeking revenge and targeting this unsuspecting family, does not care about Josh, Rohan, or their mothers and sets its sights on tormenting them relentlessly. Shaken to their core, Josh, Rohan, and their families struggle to unravel the mystery behind the spirit's malevolent presence. In the midst of chaos, deep-seated tensions and minor conflicts between Josh, Rohan's mother Sarika, and Josh's mother Eva start to surface. With these family dynamics amidst their hands, they find it increasingly difficult to keep their own issues at bay while simultaneously battling the hideous entity in their midst. As Sarika warns Sarika and Eva tries to learn acceptance, Rohan finds himself trapped between fulfilling his mother's expectations and supporting Josh. In his attempt to uncover the backstory of the malevolent spirit, Josh delves into the cabin's history. They stumble upon an unremarkable logbook inscribed in a dark crimson writing in the cabin's attic. This journal reveals the dreadful past of a family who was brutally massacred in the cabin by none other than the unyielding and chilling entity responsible for the wrath they now face. Undeterred by their fear, Rohan takes it upon himself to drive away the poltergeist, while attempting to close wounds which will forever change their little family. Taking a risk and referring to the old family heirloom – Rohan tries tying the evil spirit to a tie that gets Rohan's father passed down through generations. Their bond grows when Josh starts remembering that when Rohan called for 'Dad', at the threshold of life, it awakened the malevolent entity enough. Sealing their relationships were all that stood between the people they loved and a vengeful spirit readying to wipe out their reputation in full glare.
