
#Midway It's rare to see a solid WWII film, a heroic tale, made these days. Hollywood seems unwilling to invest in war movies anymore; they're expensive, and sequels are impossible. Even Emmerich had to search globally for funding. "Midway" completely avoids the popcorn-flick logic disguised as a war film, like "Pearl Harbor." Instead, it leans towards the classic style of the '60s and '70s, but with vastly improved technology. The film extensively uses pilot's POV shots, showcasing the critical dive-bombing that led to the American victory, creating an intense sense of presence (shooting aerial and naval warfare is visually more exciting than ground combat).
