It was amidst this backdrop of tyranny that the two Dovbush brothers, Oleksandr and Dmytro, emerged as opryshkos - mountain outlaws determined to fight against the forces of oppression. The Dovbush brothers, with their imposing figure and unwavering resolve, quickly gained notoriety among the Hutsul people. However, their bond of brotherhood was not destined to last. The two brothers had different motivations for their actions. While Dmytro was driven solely by the desire for wealth and material gain, Oleksa was resolute in his fight for the freedom and rights of his people. As the legend of Oleksa Dovbush grew, so did the ire of the aristocracy. The ruling class, determined to eliminate the opryshko's threat to their authority, launched a series of brutal campaigns to capture or kill Oleksa. The mountain terrain, however, proved to be the outlaw's greatest ally. Dovbush's knowledge of the land, combined with his exceptional bravery and cunning, allowed him to evade his pursuers at every turn. As the stakes grew higher, the Hutsul people began to flock to Oleksa's cause, inspired by his unwavering dedication and unshakeable courage. The mountains resounded with the whispers of the opryshko's exploits, and soon, his name became a synonym for hope and freedom among the oppressed Hutsul population. However, the aristocracy refused to give up. Resorting to deceit and cunning, the desperate lords devised a devious plan to destroy the invincible outlaw. Oleksa's greatest weakness, they calculated, was his love for his childhood sweetheart, Marichka. The lords' strategy was to send an assassin to kill Oleksa, using Marichka as bait to lure the opryshko to his doom.
