Good Fortune
Good Fortune is a heartwarming and often hilarious comedy-drama that follows the misadventures of an overzealous and ultimately well-intentioned angel named Gabriel. Played by a charismatic comedic actor, Gabriel is tasked with creating a celestial checkmate by nudging the lives of two individuals from vastly different walks of life into alignment with the universe's plan. However, things quickly take a turn for the unexpected as Gabriel's efforts go awry in spectacular fashion. The story centers around Sarah, a young woman struggling to make ends meet as a gig worker in the big city. With a supportive yet frazzled demeanor, Sarah juggles multiple part-time jobs to stay afloat in the midst of rising rent costs and an unforgiving economy. As Gabriel attempts to guide her towards a brighter future, the angel inadvertently causes a chain reaction of chaos that tests Sarah's resolve and puts her relationships with her loved ones to the test. Meanwhile, there's Jack, a wealthy and wealthyly-dressed capitalist, seemingly content to reap the benefits of his success without any regard for the lives of those beneath him. His business dealings are marked by self-interest and a clear disregard for the well-being of the working class. However, Jack's life slowly begins to fall apart as his business partners begin to turn on him, his family's loyalty wears thin, and personal crises start to weigh on his once-tranquil existence. Upon learning of Sarah and Jack's intersecting lives, Gabriel becomes fixated on orchestrating a harmonious convergence between the two. Believing that their paths must cross for his plan to successfully come to fruition, Gabriel resorts to increasingly unorthodox methods in a bid to connect Sarah and Jack. However, his misinterpretations and blunders make matters more complicated by piling setbacks and misunderstandings upon their head throughout the movie. As Gabriel's best-laid plans crumble into disarray, he begins to form a bond with the two, witnessing firsthand the tangible effects his actions have on their lives. Emotionally caught up in a cosmic catastrophe of his own making, the angel is forced to confront his own inability to create a new paradigm of order for either his assignment or for himself. Particularly at odds with Gabriel's actions is a mysterious archangel who resents the angel's intrusion, as the archangel regards Gabriel's behavior as all too human. Fearing that the angels in the higher reaches will react to such trivial intervention by issuing grave castigation, Gabriel confronts numerous catastrophic penalties - possible expulsions and erasure from the celestial family. Additionally entangled in Gabriel's crisis is a charming free spirit artist, named Louise, who effortlessly sketches art pieces that unwittingly deliver the angel hidden prophecy insights. Their empathetic communication ultimately contributes in transforming fate.
