Unquestionably the best of the Barbie movies. I still get teary-eyed listening to the soundtrack even now. I adore the premise, two souls striving for freedom and their dreams. Erika and Dominic might have been the first pairing I ever truly shipped?

Still watching this over and over, even at this age...

The music is absolutely wonderful! The songs "Free" and "Cat's Meow" are brilliantly composed and performed. As Barbie's first musical animation, it's a resounding success. The prince loves Erika because he believes in her, and I love her because I believe in her too! This movie features such a distinctive and witty heroine. Even though it ends with the classic prince and princess happily ever after, I appreciate how the women in this story are brave enough to be themselves and face many realistic considerations, instead of just being damsels in distress waiting to be rescued. Free and Love.

Stumbled upon this while looking up Ingrid Bergman's "Anastasia"... This was a huge favorite of mine in middle school, probably my most loved of the entire Barbie series. Actually, I love all the Barbie movies! Watching them makes the world seem like a better place, and I just want to become a kind and gentle-hearted girl. (Of course, the effect only lasts for about two hours... then I revert back to being a tough, stubborn girl again.
