I appreciate the film's entertainment value. Even though the character designs of the aliens and humans, as well as the story itself, are pretty standard, I still found it enjoyable. My sister, three kids, and I had a good time watching it. During the viewing, I couldn't help but draw comparisons to similar-themed, and similarly-quality, films like "Planet 51." Later on, the "imprisonment" of the aliens on Earth felt heavily "inspired" by the R-rated alien movie "Paul," which I love. ★★★☆
