In the late 4th century, the Tang Dynasty of China was renowned for its military prowess and the elite group of warriors known as the Imperial Guard. Among these formidable fighters stood Tu, a valiant and skilled warrior with unwavering dedication to his country. Tu, however, had a deeper connection to his fellow childhood friends, Jin, Tu's close friend and loyal companion; Yin, the cunning strategist; and Miao, the enigmatic archer. Their friendship and camaraderie were a beacon of hope in the harsh world of the Imperial Guard. Unfortunately, when the group, all under thirty, was tasked with capturing the rebel leader Wei Zhongxian, an old nemesis and a traitor to the emperor, the dynamics of their relationship underwent a drastic change. Tu was ordered to hunt down Wei Zhongxian by his superiors and, as luck would have it, Jin, Yin, and Miao were the ones tasked with executing the Emperor's order, making them essentially ordered to kill their childhood friend, Tu. The battle was intense, with Tu and his friends clashing in a fierce and chaotic fight. In the end, the group of friends found themselves at an impasse, frozen in time and trapped in a state of perpetual cold. As history would dictate, 400 years went by. The modern age dawned, and an archaeological team discovered the frozen group of warriors in 1952 near Harbin. The excavation team led by Dr. Zhang is comprised of experienced historians, archaeologists, and scientists all eager to unravel the enigma that lies before them. As the group slowly begins to thaw out, they find themselves transported four centuries in the future, confused and disoriented. Upon realizing the circumstances of their situation, the old animosity between Tu and his former friends reignites. Jin, now cold and calculating, believes that this new world is the perfect opportunity for revenge against their old friend Tu, whom he sees as having broken their group and left him to die. As tensions escalate, a new generation of warriors, led by the brilliant and cunning General Yang, becomes aware of the group's arrival. The general sees the warriors as an asset and an opportunity for the Chinese army to gain the upper hand in a war that has been brewing for decades. Tu and General Yang engage in a complex dance of cat and mouse. Yang knows that if he can somehow use the skills of the ancient warriors, he could possibly change the course of the war. Meanwhile, Jin and his cohorts begin their quest for revenge against Tu, fueled by 400 years of built-up anger and resentment. As time passes, an unspoken camaraderie forms between Tu and General Yang. Despite the vast differences between their backgrounds and perspectives, they find common ground in their shared sense of duty and honor. Yang comes to see Tu as a symbol of heroism and loyalty, and it soon becomes clear that he's not the only one who views things this way. Jin, with his newfound hatred and determination, continues his quest for revenge against Tu. With each passing battle, Jin's obsession becomes increasingly apparent, but he refuses to back down. In a heart-pounding climax, Tu's old friends face off against him in a battle of wits, swordplay, and loyalty. As the final confrontation unfolds, the old guard's past, present, and future intertwine in a rich tapestry of sacrifice, loyalty, and duty. With honor and duty calling him to make the ultimate sacrifice, General Yang steps forward and helps in saving Tu's life. As Jin lies dying from his injuries sustained during his last confrontation with Tu, he is met with a glimmer of understanding. He comes to realize that Tu was never a foe to be defeated but a lost friend to be reunited with - and in that understanding, lies redemption. The warriors return home, a symbol of the indomitable spirit of China and its people. As history takes its course, the battle between Tu and his childhood friends ends, but their legacies live on. Tu, Jin, Yin, and Miao are immortalized in time as symbols of friendship, loyalty, and courage.
