Unlike "Yojimbo" or "A Fistful of Dollars," this is about a 'bad guy' breaking the rules. He clearly wants the money but chooses to play the hero, which is why the old detective's words ring true: You'll end up dying because of a woman someday.

This show has completely run out of gas. It's stale, unfunny, and a pale imitation of its former self. A complete waste of time.

While Akira Kurosawa's mentor was John Ford, and *Yojimbo* was adapted from Dashiell Hammett's hard-boiled pulp novel *Red Harvest*, ironically, when the "noir" film became a success, widely acclaimed, and began to be fed back to Hollywood for Americanization, it invariably met with failure! The main reason is the absence of the lively comedic style and vibrant personality renditions that are present in Kurosawa's films. Think of the obsequious flunkies, the cowardly masters who jump over walls, and the half-witted young thugs in *Yojimbo*. And these entertaining characters must be built on the logical foundation that Sanjuro's martial arts prowess is unmatched and unparalleled. (The same is true for Zatoichi.) Because only when the wandering stranger possesses overwhelming power and slaughters everyone else can you ensure...
