The weakest entry in the Mad Max series, <Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome> still delivers on iconic settings, vehicles, and character designs. Its biggest shortcoming is the lack of explosive action; it's even toned down to a PG-13 rating. It's hard to believe that George Miller later transitioned to films like <Babe: Pig in the City> and <Happy Feet>. Was this his own creative choice, or was it influenced by American studios and tastes?

Calling it science fiction feels inaccurate; it's more like "retro," with the protagonists seeming to have regressed to a "primitive" era. Were it not for the sporadic appearances of modern "technology," it would be hard to believe this is set in the future. Action sequences are scarce, and while the "Thunderdome" concept is novel, it lacks excitement... The plot progression further tests my patience; were it not for sheer perseverance, I might not have finished watching it.
