Strong Batman vibes throughout; it's amusing to think Mark felt a sense of déjà vu when he showed up as a cannon fodder in The Dark Knight years later. Russell Crowe really should have angled for the Joker role in Suicide Squad. This script would have been right up David Cronenberg's alley.

Back in the VCD era, "Virtuosity" was a popular movie. I recently revisited it and remembered it was originally called "21st Century Killer." Russell Crowe's performance as the villain wasn't great; he should have been more exaggerated. Of course, after this film, he gradually found his unique, understated style. Similarly, Denzel Washington was constantly switching between action and drama roles when he took on this project. Interestingly, later in their careers, Denzel, with his action film "Training Day," beat Russell's most acclaimed performance in "A Beautiful Mind" to win the Oscar for Best Actor. Both were at their peak then. Their individual styles were already evident in this movie...

Right from the start, it felt familiar, and the bomb disposal scene at the end triggered a memory from kindergarten – my memory fails me so often… Young Denzel and Russell were so handsome, and their acting was superb, especially Russell, who already had that Oscar-worthy presence. Despite the so-so plot, it's still a highlight for sci-fi from 1995.

For its time, "Virtuosity" was a pretty decent flick.
