I could understand everything people said, and even had the chance to scoff at at least a third of it. These aren't necessarily profound philosophies, but rather delivered in a lecture-like manner. Though sometimes it was hard to keep up, the underlying meaning was still graspable: just ideas. While the views on free will, reincarnation, quantum theory, social structures, and evolution didn't quite resonate, the man on fire, the car-boat driver, and the prison curse definitely caught my attention.

Probably the most tedious animation in the world. Beyond the dream-within-a-dream structure, it's all just "philosophy class" dialogue. But this film does remind me of my freshman year in college. Like the protagonist, I would silently listen to people spout a bunch of theories every day (they all sounded reasonable, but if you thought about it, they didn't really say anything at all), and then I'd have all sorts of weird dreams at night.

The "Before" trilogy's hidden 1.5 installment. I also crave someone to just riff with daily about random, boundless topics – literature, art, science, philosophy. How fun would it be to just bullshit together every day? Or, even gossiping every day would be fine too. Yesterday it's Zhang and Ma Yili, today it's milk tea and Liu Qiangdong, tomorrow our colleagues' dirty laundry. (ps. Da Tou, this is that nonsensical, rambling movie for you, please don't watch it).
