The 38th Golden Raspberry Awards: Celebrating the Worst in Cinema
The Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, are an annual event that “honors” the worst films and performances of the year. In keeping with tradition, the Razzies took place the day before the Oscars. On March 3rd, the 38th Golden Raspberry Awards announced its winners, with The Emoji Movie taking home four awards, including Worst Picture. Despite receiving the most nominations, Transformers: The Last Knight was surprisingly shut out, suggesting there might still be hope for the franchise.

Actors “Honored” with Razzies
Tom Cruise and Tyler Perry were named Worst Actor and Worst Actress for their roles in The Mummy and Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, respectively. Perry previously won in 2014 for A Madea Christmas, defeating a host of female stars. It seems that as long as the Madea series continues, Perry’s relationship with the Razzies will remain strong. Other notable “winners” include Mel Gibson, who won Worst Supporting Actor for Daddy’s Home 2, and Kim Basinger, who won Worst Supporting Actress for Fifty Shades Darker.
