Unfinished Business

Trama

Vince (Vince Vaughn) is a small business owner from Chicago who has built a lucrative drywall installation company from the ground up. He is married to his loving wife, Rose (Jane Krakowski), and has a beautiful daughter. As Vince's business grows, he becomes increasingly consumed by his work, often putting his family on the backburner for the sake of his business. His partner, Chuck (Tom Wilkinson), is trying to retire and hand over the reins to the young and ambitious Danny (Jason Bateman). Danny is tasked with closing a massive drywall contract in Edinburgh that has the potential to cement his career. He convinces Vince to join him on the trip, along with their eccentric associate, Nick (Dave Franco), and they set off on a grueling journey to Scotland. Upon arrival, the group soon realizes that Danny's boss, Timothy Cole (Sienna Guillory), has set them up with a series of ridiculous business meetings in an attempt to test their worthiness for the lucrative contract. As they navigate through a series of awkward encounters, Vince becomes increasingly frustrated with the situation and starts to rebel against the company's corporate culture. One night, they stumble upon a massive sex fetish event, where they become immersed in the bizarre world of alternative lifestyles. Meanwhile, Nick becomes distracted by a beautiful and free-spirited woman, Sophia (Q'orianka Kilcher), who joins them on their adventures. As they continue to crisscross Europe, the group becomes entangled in a global economic summit in Berlin, where they inadvertently get caught up in a high-stakes game of international politics. Vince uses his people skills to schmooze his way into a meeting with some high-ranking economists, while Nick and Danny get into a series of misadventures involving a Russian oligarch and a priceless art collection. Throughout their journey, Vince starts to realize that there is more to life than just making money. He starts to reconnect with his roots and re-evaluate his priorities. Back in Chicago, Rose and Vince's daughter are struggling to connect with him, but through a series of long-distance phone calls, they begin to rebuild their relationships. As the trip draws to a close, the group finally sits down with the Edinburgh contractor who has the drywall contract. However, in a shocking twist, they realize that Timothy Cole has been manipulating them all along, and the contract is actually a setup to gauge their worth as corporate drones. Danny has an epiphany, and he decides to sabotage the meeting, revealing Timothy Cole's true intentions. Vince and the group walk away from the deal, but in doing so, they realize that they have discovered something more valuable than a lucrative contract – they have discovered themselves. The group returns to Chicago, a little wiser and a little humbled, but also with a newfound appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Vince returns home to his family, and they share a heartwarming moment, symbolizing a new beginning and a renewed commitment to their relationships. The movie ends on a lighthearted note, with Vince and the group returning to their drywall installation business, but this time with a newfound sense of purpose and a fresh perspective on the meaning of success.
