Down Texas Way

あらすじ

In the dusty, sun-scorched streets of a small Texas town, the lives of its residents are about to be turned upside down. U.S. Marshals Buck Roberts (Buck Jones) and Tim McCall (Tim McCoy) have come to pay a visit to their old friend, U.S. Marshal Sandy Hopkins (Raymond Hatton). Sandy is a familiar face, operating a small hotel on the outskirts of town, where the locals can gather and share their stories. When Buck and Tim arrive, they expect a warm welcome, but instead, they are met with an unsettling air of tension. Their initial investigation reveals that the town's owner, John Dodge (Jack Daley), has been found dead under mysterious circumstances. The local authorities seem to be stumped, and the suspects are plentiful, but one name keeps surfacing – Sandy Hopkins. It turns out that Sandy had been in town just before the murder and had a heated argument with John Dodge. As a result, he is now wanted for questioning. Buck and Tim are shocked by the news, as they know Sandy is innocent. Buck, Tim, and the local Sheriff set out to find out what really happened, but their search leads them to the notorious henchmen of Bart Logan (Harry Woods). Logan is a ruthless man with a penchant for taking over other people's property, and the town of Texas is no exception. It soon becomes apparent that Logan had a vested interest in John Dodge's death, as he aimed to take control of his vast estate. The further Buck, Tim, and the Sheriff delve into the mystery, the more they find themselves entangled in a web of deceit and betrayal. They soon discover that Bart Logan's accomplice, Stella (Lois Austin), has arrived in town, posing as John Dodge's long-lost wife, Ann. The plan is to have Stella marry John's son, thereby securing her claim to the Dodge property and ultimately falling into Logan's hands. Meanwhile, Sandy Hopkins, who had been taken prisoner by Logan's men, manages to escape and return to his hotel. With his quick wit and sharp thinking, Sandy sets out to clear his name and unravel the threads of the complex plot that has ensnared the town. As tensions continue to rise, Buck, Tim, and the Sheriff team up with Sandy to bring the perpetrators to justice. Their investigation takes them from the dusty backstreets of the town to the vast, open plains of the Texas countryside. They encounter various characters, each with their own secrets and motives, including the mysterious stranger known only as "The Kid." Throughout their journey, the marshals confront various obstacles, from treacherous terrain to cunning adversaries. As they close in on the truth, they are subjected to a series of thrilling chases and narrow escapes. Buck and Tim's expertise as marshals is put to the test as they face off against Logan's henchmen in a series of intense showdowns. In the end, it's up to Sandy to confront his nemesis, Bart Logan. With the help of his friends, Buck and Tim, Sandy sets a trap for Logan and his accomplices. The final confrontation is tense, with the fate of the town hanging in the balance. In the end, justice is served, and Logan and his cohorts are brought to account for their crimes. As the dust settles, the townspeople breathe a sigh of relief, grateful that their beloved Marshal Sandy has been vindicated. Buck, Tim, and Sandy share a laugh, knowing that their friendship has stood the test of time and adversity. As the U.S. Marshals prepare to leave, they know that they have left behind a town that has come together to fight for what's right, and a friend who has proven that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for redemption.
