あらすじ
映画「ケーブルガイ」のあらすじは次のとおりです。 恋人と別れたばかりのスティーブン・コバックス（マシュー・マコノヒー）が新しいアパートに引っ越すと、ケーブルテレビの工事人チップ・ダグラス（ジム・キャリー）が出迎える。彼は陽気で風変わりな男で、スティーブンのテレビと電話のサービスの設定に異様に熱心だ。最初、スティーブンはチップの行動を面白く思っていたが、日が経つにつれてチップの行動はますます押しつけがましく、迷惑になってくる。 最初、チップはただスティーブンの友達になりたい一心で、しつこく付きまとったり、奇妙な贈り物をしたりする。しかし、スティーブンがチップを避け始めると、ケーブルガイの態度は暗転する。チップはスティーブンに近づくことに執着し、招かれざる客としてスティーブンの玄関先に現れたり、奇妙な電話をかけたり、留守番電話にまで侵入したりする。 スティーブンがチップの接近を阻止しようとすると、この一見無害な変人が邪悪な動機を持っていることに気づき始める。同僚で友人のリック（デニス・リアリー）の助けを借りて、スティーブンはチップを出し抜き、自分の人生を取り戻す方法を見つけなければならない。 この映画を通して、ジム・キャリーの印象的なコメディ演技がチップ・ダグラスとして遺憾なく発揮され、ドタバタ喜劇から不安を煽る脅威まで、幅広く演じている。スティーブンとチップの対立が最高潮に達し、観客は笑いと驚きを同時に体験する。
