In the tense thriller "21 Bridges," Director Brian Kirk transforms the screen into a fight for survival, lives, and redemption. Starring Chadwick Boseman as Detective Andre Davis, an embattled NYPD detective, and Stephan James as Michael Trujillo, a notorious killer, the film's intricate plot unfolds across the Brooklyn Bridge. Detective Andre Davis, a seasoned and stern cop, is approached by his commanding officer, Captain Francis Meka (Delroy Lindo), with an investigation of utmost importance. Davis has one job: track down Michael Trujillo, a cop killer embroiled in a larger conspiracy, and apprehend him within the 21 police-bridged borders of Brooklyn. This task seems simple enough; however, the twists and turns will soon unravel the far more complicated intentions at play. Michael, alongside his accomplices, Kai (Taylor Kitsch) and Marcus (Daniel Kaluuya), finds himself at the center of the plot. As witnesses, they have something cryptic on their hands that Davis is desperate to uncover. Trivially, Trujillo is out of his element within the bustling streets of New York. Everything – his clothes, his actions and decisions – scream for what lies underneath, only a discovery that has been years in his past, will come with this chase. With lines becoming increasingly blurred between the individuals being tried, Davis is swiftly implicated in an overarching shadowy scheme, an allusion brought from a mysterious link in his own dubious past. Fitted with earpiece contact, Davis becomes quickly seen to the untrusting rogue operative, Bill, along with ruthless officers he has to form alliance with. During a sweep operation where all main streets are locked down and sealed, Andre feels like his grip over things is rapidly decreasing. This whole night sets him stumbling over broken down past relations, and just about finding any way he can contain his rage, even if it means putting his survival against law enforcement policies for the benefits of others. Davis travels along the 21 bridge set to unravel secrets and apprehend Trujillo. What initially grips Davis is the intense urgency these crimes create - which perhaps isn’t of great significance to everyday city lives. This perception causes him to re-evaluate the state in which this society works, in a city governed by morals forged by his own community. Also driving Andre's resolve is an intricate figure in his past, which his pursuit does nothing but bring deeper echoes within him. Davis must at all costs keep all parties involved under lock down, including two potential complicity colleagues. Nothing could signal more the desperate plight that plagues these 21 heavily closed-in areas, if in him this urgent charge grows from chaos outside the cold and unforgiving law-enforcemen institutions. Every second counts, and the tension begins to peak up. Amidst one suspenseful and twisted scenario after another, as nights turns into day, and last hope fades quickly; when clarity is sought for amidst falling shadows of police sirens and fading flames of a New York City full of darkness, Detective Davis gets even more caught up in wanting them, by taking an idea that it’s almost impossible for anyone to lose themselves in any aspect un-notified.
