Babygirl

Plot
In the provocative and ambitious film 'Babygirl,' a complex narrative unfolds around the tumultuous relationship between a powerful CEO and her young intern, raising important questions about power dynamics, consent, and the true cost of temptation. Lena, the enigmatic CEO of a cutting-edge corporation, has built her success on a foundation of wit, intelligence, and unyielding drive. Her no-nonsense, bottom-line approach has earned her the respect of her peers and the fear of her underlings. However, behind the polished facade, Lena harbors a secret vulnerability, a deep-seated longing for connection and intimacy that she struggles to express in the sterile, high-stakes world of corporate America. Enter Lucas, a charismatic and ambitious young intern with a bad-boy charm and a penchant for taking risks. Their initial interactions are ones of tense, charged professionalism, with Lucas finding himself constantly on the receiving end of Lena's withering critiques and sarcastic remarks. Yet, beneath the surface, a forbidden attraction ignites, fueled by their mutual desire for power and control. As their clandestine affair progresses, the lines between personal and professional boundaries begin to blur. Lena, feeling suffocated by the constraints of her high-pressure job and failing marriage, finds herself swept away by the raw energy and youthfulness of Lucas. In turn, Lucas is drawn to the intoxicating thrill of being with a woman who exudes authority and sophistication. As their romance deepens, the dynamics of their relationship become increasingly complicated. Lena's corporate colleagues begin to take notice of her increasingly erratic behavior, and whispers of scandal start to circulate. Meanwhile, Lucas's introduction to the high-society world of Lena's associates raises uncomfortable questions about class and privilege. The external pressures build as Lena's husband, a ruthless and calculating man, begins to suspect that something is amiss. Feeling trapped in a loveless marriage and desperate to recapture the spark that brought them together, Lena finds herself further entangled in the complex web of relationships and expectations. In the midst of this maelstrom, Lena's perceptions of herself and those around her are relentlessly challenged. Her power and influence are revealed to be as fragile as they are formidable, and her carefully constructed facade begins to crumble. As she grapples with the true cost of her desires and the devastating consequences of her choices, Lena is forced to confront the hollowness of her high-powered existence and the emptiness that lies at its core. 'Babygirl' is a cinematic tour-de-force that plunges audiences into the dark underbelly of corporate culture, where the lust for power and control can consume even the most seemingly secure individuals. As it hurtles toward its devastating conclusion, the film pose searching questions about the true nature of desire, the perils of unchecked ambition, and the high price of seeking validation in all the wrong places. With its unflinching portrayal of two flawed, deeply human characters, 'Babygirl' is a searing exploration of the consequences that follow when we sacrifice our integrity and our souls for the fleeting allure of success.

A midlife career woman's sexual awakening. The more polished someone appears, the more they crave certain kinks to feel complete. Isn't that what makes us whole? Watching Nicole Kidman being "trained" by a younger man is surprisingly delightful – no wonder she won that Venice award! I bet Isabelle Huppert had a knowing smile.

A kinky forbidden love between a milf-y, submissive female boss and a younger, dog-training, dominant intern (S role with awkward laughter)! Although the plot is cliché and familiar, it's definitely not some male-gazing fantasy of "conquering the female boss" like those male-oriented novels. Instead, it cleverly uses power dynamics and the role reversals between workplace and sex to analyze and care for the female condition – overcoming sexual shame, daring to express desires, moving away from body anxiety; it’s about enjoying sex but more importantly, loving oneself. Finally, the predictable trope unfolds, with a classic funeral pyre climax: the husband and the intern passionately brawl, and the female boss stages the iconic "stop fighting, please!.gif" scene. And the next scene cuts to her holding two...

"Charming intern" is a serious overstatement. Even Nicole Kidman at her absolute hungriest wouldn't give him a second look, let alone... you know.

For a Chinese remake, Ha Qing and Elvis Han might be a perfect fit.
