Bad Samaritan

Bad Samaritan is a 2018 American psychological thriller film directed by Dean Devlin. The film follows Cale Erendreich (Robert Sheehan), a charismatic 24-year-old thief who makes a living by stealing valuables from wealthy homes in Portland, Oregon. Cale's method is peculiar; he uses a surveillance drone to locate and scope out potential targets, then he and his partner, Derek (Carlito Olivero), break in under the cover of night to relieve the homeowners of their most precious possessions. During one of their heists, Cale gains access to the residence of Edward (David Tennant) and Victoria, a seemingly affluent couple with a lovely daughter. However, this particular household holds a dark secret. Inside, Cale discovers a series of disturbing Polaroid photographs depicting a young girl with a menacing smile. Intrigued and unsettled, Cale can't shake off the feeling of unease; the unsettling images keep haunting him. As he delves deeper into the mystery of the Polaroids, Cale realizes that they seem to be connected to a series of events in a neighborhood with a reputation for its strange occurrences and unexplained disappearances. Desperate to uncover the truth about Edward and Victoria, Cale starts to observe him, watching him in quiet corners and eavesdropping on his phone calls. However, Cale becomes increasingly entangled in the sinister web of secrets surrounding the enigmatic couple. When Cale and Derek decide to return to the house for another heist, they discover that things have taken a drastic turn. They find Edward bound to a chair in his own home, along with a disturbing display of human trophies. Confronted with the ghastly evidence, Cale starts to suspect that Edward has an insidious dark side. Cale's perception of reality takes a devastating turn when he realizes that the photographs he saw previously were, in fact, taken during an event orchestrated by Edward and Victoria. Cale soon discovers how he has been deceived and manipulated through a dark web of sinister games, ultimately trapping him in the very house where he intended to steal.
