Plot

As the sun sets over the rolling hills of the African savannah, Dr. Nate Samuels, still reeling from the recent loss of his wife, embarks on a journey with his two daughters, Norah and Meredith, to a game reserve in South Africa. The hope is that this trip will provide a chance for the family to heal and bond once more. However, their tranquil getaway is soon disrupted by a ferocious and bloodthirsty lion, which begins to stalk its prey. As the lion's attacks escalate, Nate, Norah, and Meredith find themselves fighting for survival in the unforgiving wilderness. The once-peaceful reserve has become a battleground, with the three family members forced to rely on each other's skills and instincts to stay alive. As they navigate the treacherous terrain, they confront their personal demons and face the harsh realities of their new reality. The tension builds as the lion's attacks become more frequent and intense, pushing the trio to their limits. In the midst of this chaos, old wounds are reopened, and secrets are revealed, threatening to tear the family apart. As the stakes grow higher, Nate must confront his own mortality and the fragility of life, while Norah and Meredith must come to terms with their own grief and the harsh truths of growing up. As the battle between man and beast reaches its climax, the Samuels family is forced to confront the ultimate question: can they find a way to overcome their collective trauma and emerge stronger on the other side, or will the unforgiving savannah consume them whole?

Two and a half stars. The film employs a significant amount of long takes, following the protagonist closely and immersing the audience in the experience. However, the thin plot and reliance on wilderness survival tropes hinder its overall success. The movie does, to some extent, address contemporary wildlife issues, attempting to raise awareness.

No need to bother. The two kids are way too annoying, and their dad acts like a complete fool. It's one of those movies where the antagonist isn't really that formidable, but human stupidity makes it look incredibly dangerous. Watching it just leaves you with a sense of frustrating anxiety.

The story feels refreshingly old-school, reminiscent of the creature-feature thrillers I used to watch as a kid. That final showdown, though, was brutal! I was practically being torn apart right along with them.

Ugh... it's like every single decision he makes at this crucial moment is the wrong one! 😂

The relentless lion in 'Beast' isn't just a predator—it's a force of nature that will make you rethink your place in this raw, unforgiving world.
