Bed Rest

Bed Rest

Plot

As the days blend together, Sarah finds herself trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of boredom and discomfort, forced to spend most of her days confined to her bed due to complications with her pregnancy. As she grows more anxious and restless, Sarah begins to notice strange occurrences around her home - doors creaking open on their own, faint whispers echoing through the hallway, and an overall sense of unease that seems to permeate every corner of her once-peaceful abode. At first, Sarah chalks these events up to mere paranoia born from her confinement and hormonal shifts. However, as the episodes escalate in frequency and intensity, she starts to question whether there's truth to her suspicions - is her house indeed haunted by some malevolent force, or is her own frazzled mind playing tricks on her? As Sarah delves deeper into the mysteries of her home, she discovers a tangled web of secrets and lies that threaten to upend everything she thought she knew about herself and those around her. With each passing day, the line between reality and fantasy grows increasingly blurred, leaving Sarah to confront the darkest fears and deepest insecurities of her own psyche. As the stakes rise and the tension builds, Sarah must confront the true nature of her haunting head-on - will she find a way to exorcise the demons that haunt her home, or will she succumb to the crushing weight of her own doubts and fears?

Feels like it recaptures some of that early "The Conjuring" vibe.

"Even in death, motherhood persists – a poignant portrayal of a mother's enduring and tragic journey."

The bedside reading light the main character uses looks great – just ordered one myself, looking forward to seeing how it is!

Among the movies I've seen this year, I'd say this one is pretty decent. The jump scares were genuinely unexpected. The blend of mental illness, ghostly disturbances, and the longing for a deceased child effectively blurs the line between reality and delusion for the main character. While the appearance of the "lady" felt very James Wan-esque, the ending was refreshingly original – being defeated by a ghost, only to be revived. Thankfully, the three children weren't malevolent.

It's just so-so. The story is mediocre, and the presentation is unremarkable. Even though it's only 90 minutes, it still feels a bit long. But the pain of childbirth always belongs to women. The anxiety and reluctance are because the child was once intimately connected to the mother, something that fathers may never understand.

It’s sleepless nights and haunted houses—or maybe she’s just over it all.
