Big Momma's House

Plot
In the comedy film Big Momma's House, Martin Lawrence stars as Malcolm Turner, an FBI agent tasked with safeguarding beautiful single mother Sherry Pierce (played by Nia Long) and her six-year-old son Trenton (played by Wayne Kamas) from an escaped convict, Jack Saunders (played by Jascha Washington's character, however, is being protected by both Malcolm and another FBI agent, Helen 'Hanni' Harrison, portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg's character). As part of the assignment, Malcolm goes undercover, disguising himself as Big Momma, a larger-than-life, rough-around-the-edges Southern woman who instantly resonates with Trenton due to her playful, and eccentric demeanor, blending effortlessly with the residents of a housing project in Atlanta, Georgia. To maintain his cover, Malcolm purchases a wardrobe of loose-fitting clothes, a set of oversized wigs, and an even more convincing accent. Big Momma, now an essential part of the story, quickly wins over Trenton with her affable yet boisterous character. Despite struggling at first to adapt to Big Momma's eccentricities, Malcolm is finally able to break the ice with the charming six-year old. Malcolm/Big Momma effortlessly weathers all his tough-guy suspicions and gradually becomes an unanticipated part of Trenton and Sherry's daily lives, forming a special bond with the six-year-old as they engage in vibrant conversations with Big Momma freely telling raffle tales of questionable truth, as well as the blunt and often painful realities of their life in the housing project. Upon his arrival, Malcolm feels pressured by the demands of the case and decides to take it by the horns, joining Trenton and Sherry for a quick emotional connection to show them both the support they both deserve. The small but highly energetic child of a street-wise and hardened woman named Trenton instantly sees through Malcolm's antics but in big momma, he is assured of his father's true affection, providing Malcolm a powerful feeling much admired and adored Trenton's antics, yet a huge relief for his family, all the while maintaining the undercover FBI agents' unique balance between male and female life with humorous tone from these both. As Big Momma, Malcolm Turner is slowly drawn into the tight-knit community of the housing project where Trenton lives, forming close friendships with many residents, each whose personal misfortunes foster genuine empathetic emotions. There he also meets Hattie, a quirky, boisterous, and caring single woman who takes an instant liking to Big Momma and the local hardware store owner but is unimpressed with the boisterous character he has taken on. Hattie tries hard to ignore the weird antics Malcolm creates while donning Big Momma's colorful persona, but often gets engaged in the boisterous side. Big Momma navigates through his dual identities with varying levels of confidence and the composure necessary to keep up his tough-guy image while avoiding any genuine connections with Sherry or the other residents of the housing project. While each time Big Momma gets close to one of Sherry or Trenton, it becomes increasingly more difficult for Malcolm to control the wild and wacky side of his character, attracting more than a few unwholesome and rude reactions from one of the locals including Vito, a sly and petty adversary who is bound up with corrupt intent. Jack Saunders (also known as Hightower), the escaped convict being hunted by Malcolm and his team, is in the employ of a ruthless crime boss but cleverly avoids capture or identification while still running his lucrative operation based in the very area Malcolm and his team attempt to keep clear of threat. The stakes aren't set high as initially expected, so Hightower has a slight chance at achieving his objectives with a little bit of trickery. Eventually discovering Little Trenton, his biological son, Jack Hightower puts the two pieces together to come up with a sinister plan to abduct his son and flee from the law for good. Recognizing his true motives are despicable, realizing he can be turned in anytime owing to his open disdain for law and local men as authorities Hightower becomes much too erratic but nothing any other. Confronted with certain fear, any given moment here, Malcolm maintains his Big Momma persona but does believe will reveal the true strength and intent that each part has of all three of his suspects whose malevolent state comes in closer. As part of the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between Malcolm's under-belly under disguise and Jack's wried intentions and his scheme, he leaves behind Trenton and his mother for whom his heart beats.
