Cold Feet

Plot
Cold Feet is a heartwarming drama centered around an unlikely friendship forged between a cunning thief and a retired man in the midst of a harsh winter storm. The story begins with Denis, a slick and resourceful pickpocket, who stumbles upon a lucrative opportunity to steal from a wealthy patient in a hospital. However, things take a turn when Denis is tasked with caring for Raimund, an elderly man who has suffered a stroke. Initially, Denis sees this as a chance to get close to his mark and escape with some riches. As Denis settles into his new role as caretaker, he quickly realizes that Raimund's situation is far more complex than he initially thought. Despite his own motivations, Denis starts to develop a soft spot for Raimund, who is kind, gentle, and in dire need of care. The relationship between the two men slowly blossoms as Denis begins to understand the struggles that Raimund faced before his stroke, and the sacrifices he made for his family. Just as Denis is starting to settle into his new life, Charlotte, Raimund's beautiful and feisty granddaughter, arrives at the scene. The sudden presence of this vibrant and lively young woman shakes things up for Denis, who had grown to appreciate the quiet routine of caring for Raimund. Charlotte's arrival forces Denis to confront the fact that his life with Raimund has become more than just a temporary job. He has grown attached to the old man and his stories, and the thought of leaving him behind becomes increasingly difficult. However, just as Denis is grappling with these feelings, a massive winter storm hits, cutting off any chance of escape. The blizzard, which has been forecast for days, has become a formidable force that threatens to trap them in the house for an uncertain amount of time. As the snow piles up outside, Denis and Charlotte are forced to confront the reality of their situation. With no way to leave, Denis becomes increasingly agitated, but Charlotte's calm and level-headed approach helps to soothe his nerves. As they try to wait out the storm, they begin to form an unlikely bond. Charlotte's warmth and compassion bring out a softer side of Denis, and he starts to open up to her about his past and his motivations. As the storm rages on outside, Raimund, sensing the changing dynamics between Denis and Charlotte, begins to stir from his coma-like state. Despite his fragile condition, he is aware of the tension between Denis and Charlotte and starts to meddle in their affairs. Raimund, with his wise and knowing eyes, sees the potential for real connection between Denis and Charlotte and decides to nudge them in the right direction. In the midst of this tempestuous situation, Denis and Charlotte find themselves confronting their own lives and motivations. Denis, the skilled thief, starts to question the emptiness of his life on the run, and Charlotte, who has been carrying a heavy burden, begins to let go of her grief and guilt. As they share stories and secrets, they start to form a deep and meaningful connection. In the end, the blizzard finally begins to subside, but for Denis and Charlotte, the storm has brought more than just snow and ice – it has brought them together. As the three of them come to terms with their changed circumstances, Denis, Charlotte, and Raimund form an unbreakable bond. The film ends on a hopeful note, as Denis finally finds redemption and Charlotte finds closure, both thanks to the unlikeliest of caretakers – a retired man named Raimund.

Consistent continuity errors throughout the film. The only redeeming quality is the surreal dance sequence at the end.

Seems like everyone dislikes it... but personally, I found it quite amusing... I officially declare that Lin Dai has surpassed Chaplin and Keaton in my heart!

Okay, here's the translation of "嬲。决斗戏和结尾不错" into English, aiming for a natural and evocative feel fitting for a film review: "Intense. The duel scene and ending were well done."
John
The duel scene (especially when the chicken comes back to life) and the ending dance (immediately reminiscent of that famous photo, "Dalí Atomicus") offer some amusement.
Tessa
The duel was well done.
