Desperate Measures
Plot
Desperate Measures is a 2002 thriller film directed by Don Roos. The movie tells the story of Frank Connor, a San Francisco police officer who is desperate to find a compatible bone marrow donor for his gravely ill son, Matt. Matt's only hope for survival lies in finding a matching donor, and Frank is determined to do whatever it takes to save his son's life. However, his search leads him to an unlikely candidate: convicted multiple murderer, Michael Fay. Despite the moral implications of considering a serial killer as a potential donor, Frank sees no other option and decides to pursue this desperate measure. As Frank navigates the complexities of the legal system and the moral dilemmas that come with it, he finds himself at odds with his colleagues, who are skeptical of his decision to involve a convicted murderer in Matt's medical treatment. Meanwhile, Michael Fay, played by Michael Clarke Duncan, is revealed to be a complex and nuanced character, whose own motivations for helping Frank are slowly uncovered. Throughout the film, Frank's emotional struggles as a father desperate to save his son's life are juxtaposed with the moral ambiguities of involving a serial killer in the process. As the story unfolds, Desperate Measures raises important questions about the nature of morality, justice, and the limits of human sacrifice. Ultimately, the film takes a thought-provoking look at the complexities of human nature, presenting a gripping and emotionally charged narrative that challenges viewers to confront their own moral compass. With its strong performances, taut direction, and thought-provoking themes, Desperate Measures is a compelling drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

The kid's dad is absolutely deplorable; all for his own son, he ruthlessly caused the deaths of several police officers and patients.

Wow, this is awesome! The supercharged dynamic between the villain and the hero is just relentless and powerful. And they even develop this grudging respect for each other in the end... ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄ you guys... you... it's like their relationship gives you the feeling that... their son, it feels like their son belongs to both of them... Fine, okay, I admit it, I ship it.

For the sake of his own child, he hesitated when dealing with the criminal suspect, which led to the deaths of countless colleagues... In the end, he gets his happy ending, while the criminal escapes. Anyone who's friends or colleagues with him is just plain unlucky.

They all lived happily ever after, becoming the legendary family of criminal masterminds. That gun was definitely from Frank. I'm convinced the ultimate boss is little Matt.

How incredibly selfish! So many people died because he was trying to save his own son!
