Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky

Plot

Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky, also known as Meitantei Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky in Japan, is the 13th feature film in the long-running Detective Conan film series. Based on the manga and anime by Gosho Aoyama, this instalment delves into a complex web of deceit and terrorism. When a renowned scientist's laboratory in Shinjuku's Odaiba district is invaded by the Red Siamese Cats, a previously eradicated terrorist group, all seem to indicate a desperate and catastrophic series of events are unfolding. The terrorist group, led by the infamous and elusive Black Organization, is infamous for carrying out seemingly unrelated assassinations for hire. However, their involvement in the Shinjuku lab explosion sets into motion an intricate plot that Detective Conan Edogawa and his fellow detectives quickly come to realize was never as simple as an act of mindless terrorism. The explosion results in the death of several scientists at the lab who were secretly working on a top-secret project. As a sinister outcome of this catastrophe, the Red Siamese Cats claim to have obtained the deadly 'Blue Rose' bacteria. The deadly bacteria is extremely potent, causing unquenchable hemorrhaging in its victims and rapidly spreading in a contagious manner. This sets the stage for a series of suspenseful events unfolding as the Red Siamese Cats threaten to use the Blue Rose to spread chaos across Japan. Meanwhile, Shinichi Kudo, aka Detective Conan, who is secretly in a comatose state, finds himself trapped inside the body of his childhood friend Makoto Kyogoku. As Conan begins digging into the circumstances surrounding the lab explosion, he stumbles upon vital clues pointing towards other sinister agendas behind the destruction and loss of life at the laboratory. Conan discovers the real intentions of the terrorist attack may have been to conceal information regarding another, far more devastating secret the scientists at the laboratory had been carrying out in secret. As Conan unravels the tangled web of deceit surrounding the event, he learns of an airship, 'Jupiter L', scheduled to travel from Tokyo to Osaka. This particular airship was being used as a secret transport vehicle. Conan quickly concludes that the main objective behind the theft of the Blue Rose was actually to conceal the presence of this airship and its passengers from being discovered, thereby preventing its sinister purpose. Upon closer inspection, Conan discovers that the terrorists, who have disguised themselves as staff aboard the Jupiter L, plan to use the ship to distribute the deadly Blue Rose bacteria to a large population. Furthermore, he uncovers a larger web of deceit behind the airship's true purpose: the distribution of the deadly bacteria and possibly more, could have caused significant harm and panic to the nation. With the airship now being positioned as a prime threat, the authorities face a pressing challenge in preventing further catastrophe. Meanwhile, Conan uses his detective skills to unravel the mysteries behind the airship, its true intentions, and the connections between the sinister plot and the terrorist group. He also becomes aware of an air-activated system on the Jupiter L that will self-destruct once it has reached its destination unless it is deactivated remotely. In a tense and action-packed climax, Conan discovers that the airship will only destroy itself if it is flown by a human pilot in order to ensure its passengers' safety. Utilizing his quick wit and cunning intellect, Conan devises a desperate plan to infiltrate the Jupiter L. In an unexpected turn of events, Shinichi uses a hidden emergency exit and, in the end, manages to disable the ship's automatic pilot system to prevent disaster. Thanks to Conan's quick-thinking, the Jupiter L airship narrowly averts catastrophe, thus preventing mass panic among the population and the distribution of the deadly Blue Rose bacteria. Despite his narrow escape from the impending doom, he manages to prevent the destruction the Red Siamese Cats had orchestrated, saving the nation from a catastrophe that could have otherwise brought it to ruins. The movie ends with Conan's triumph over evil but also the question of whether Shinichi will ever be able to awaken from his comatose state.
