Plot

In the quaint town of Kailash, nestled in the picturesque hills of Rajasthan, the beautiful Parthavi Desai (Janhvi Kapoor) is a free-spirited young woman, known for her striking looks and a sense of adventure that radiates from within. On the other hand, the handsome Madhukar Anand (Ishaan Khatter) is a sensitive and introspective soul, with a deep passion for photography. Their contrasting personalities seem to make an unlikely match, but fate has other plans. When the two meet at a college festival, it's love at first sight for both. As fate would have it, Madhukar is smitten by Parthavi's vibrant smile and infectious laughter, while Parthavi is captivated by Madhukar's charming and gentle nature. They engage in conversations that spark an instant connection between them. However, the idyllic world of the two young lovers is soon shattered when they realize that their families hail from different castes of society. Parthavi's well-to-do family belongs to the upper-caste, while Madhukar's family is considered lower-caste. This societal divide poses a significant obstacle to their budding romance. As they attempt to navigate the complexities of their social differences, Madhukar and Parthavi are met with strong disapproval from their families. Parthavi's overbearing father, Prashant Desai (Anil Rehariya), sees Madhukar as unworthy due to his family's caste. On the other hand, Madhukar's family, particularly his mother, is supportive of his love for Parthavi, but they are aware of the consequences their union may entail. Despite the societal pressures that surround them, Madhukar and Parthavi dare to defy tradition and explore the depths of their love. They start dating in secret, exchanging love letters and stolen glances whenever they're together. Their love blossoms like a rose in the harsh winter, bringing warmth and color to an otherwise dull and monotonous existence. However, the social norms are harsh, unforgiving, and often violent, which the couple experiences firsthand. The two lovers are met with resistance from a mob of angry villagers, as well as an unrelenting Parthavi's father. The mob's rage and hatred towards the love that the two young souls have found, forces them to face a daunting reality that makes them realize, they're not as free to love as they had presumed. A tragic turn of events sets in motion as social tensions escalate. Parthavi's father finds Madhukar and the group of angry villagers surrounding him, and seeing his chance to put a stop to the romance, he encourages the mob to harm Madhukar. An angry mob is unleashed on Madhukar, brutally attacking him, marking a pivotal moment in the story where Parthavi, witnessing the cruel violence her family and the society unleash upon her love, is left with a harsh, cruel reality that they may be too different to be together.
